Subject: Retirement - Richard Sadakane - Save the date


Dear Everyone,

After 25 years of outstanding service, Richard Sadakane will be retiring from EPSS at the end of June. Richard began his career at UCLA in
facilities in 1991 and transferred to the Institute of Geophysics and Planetary Physics in January 1993 when the space physics group advertised for a skilled
draftsperson. This time was before the mission that became Dawn was even conceived. It predated the arrival of Galileo at Jupiter and the launch of
Cassini to Saturn. We estimate that Richard produced well over 10,000 publication quality illustrations in that time for the Institute and later
for the Department. Professors Orson Anderson, Jerry Schubert, Margaret Kivelson, and Chris Russell used his work extensively as did the
researchers and students of the Institute and the Department. He has produced hundreds of posters for scientific meetings and in many senses his
work was the face of the UCLA Geophysics group.

We will have a chance to celebrate with Richard at a farewell reception honoring all our retirees on Friday, June 24 at 2:00 p.m. in the Commons
Room.  Save The Date!
