[IGPP Everyone] [EPSS Everyone] Computing update: Lab Combo and Firefox changes

Greetings,

Two quick but important updates today.

First, the lab combos will be changing for Spring Quarter. The basement lab will change at noon on Monday, March 27. The code to 4691 will change at noon on Monday April 3. New codes will be distributed in the usual manner later today.

Second, if you have recently updated your Firefox browser to version 52 you may have noticed some changes. Among the most significant of these is a decision to only support plug-ins based on one specific standard. This is for security reasons. But a few widely used plug-ins - Flash, Silverlight, and Java - are not on that standard and will not work in the new browser. You may have noticed that Java is being avoided by other browsers as well and at this point more will not run Java than will run it. Firefox does have an "Extended Support" version which will run these plug ins but as the world moves away from them you may be fine with the newer browsers.
