[IGPP Everyone] [EPSS Everyone] Current phishing emails

Greetings,
There have been a flurry of emails sent to members of the department about "UCLA Office 365 Verification." The body of the email looks something like:

Attention: Campus Community,

This message is from the UCLA Information Technology Help Desk. Ucla.edu's webmail system database is undergoing a scheduled monthly maintenance. In this course, all ucla.edu accounts need to be verified.

Besides the fact that our department does not yet use Office 365, the originating address that I have seen is on the Comcast network which will never be a source of official emails about your UCLA credentials. Although I should note that there is an outsourced system that UCLA uses so the emails do not always come from a ucla.edu address.

However, UCLA has said that they will never embed a link to click on in the email - they will tell you where to direct your browser to or give you other instructions.

It appears this link is looking for your login info and is not trying to install malicious software on your computer. If you have clicked and "logged in" to the system you should reset the password that you gave them immediately.

Thanks
Steve
