[IGPP Everyone] Quick Way to Protect Science Funding

 Dear colleagues,

AGU just sent out an email asking us to write our representatives to ask
for Earth and space science funding. They provide EVERYTHING, all you have
to do is tell them your address and name so they can look up your
representatives in order to send the pre-written message. It took me
literally three minutes to do.

Step 1: Login to the AGU website <https://membership.agu.org/my-agu-login/>

Step 2: Provide your zipcode (or full address)

Step 3: The link above will take you to a screen where you provide your
name and address. Click send and that's all there is to it!

I know it feels like so little, but if everyone in AGU submitted that would
be a pretty loud voice!

Thank you!

Last month, AGU asked its members to share with their legislators why Earth
and space science should be prioritized in any budget deal. Your
legislators listened and passed the Bipartisan Budget Agreement of 2018
earlier this month. This bill provides substantial increases in funding for
defense as well as non-defense spending, which includes science agencies.

Now, we're asking you to reach out to your legislators again to ensure that
science receives a coordinating increase in funding. Even if your
legislators are already in support, it always helps to remind them that
they have your support.

Without an increase in funding, under the current House and Senate spending
bills for 2018:

   - NOAA could see a funding decrease of up to 13%
   - NASA would remain flat funded
   - NSF would receive a 2% decrease
   - DOE could receive up to a 9% cut in funding
   - USGS could receive up to a 4% cut in funding

Your participation is critical because legislators from your state will
help determine how much funding science receives.

AGU will continue to advocate for strong investment in science, but we
