Dear EPSS,

UCLA's Custodians and Groundskeepers are on strike this week, Monday - Wednesday.


*         Trash pickup will be limited to public spaces, general assignment classrooms, and restrooms.  Facilities will not have the time or resources to empty the trash cans in offices.  Please make sure to empty your office trash cans into the public area containers that are located in the hallways.

We have a large number of contracted custodians working on campus over the next three days to supplement the efforts of  our custodians that have chosen to report to work rather than strike.    To help you identify these people, they will be wearing the temporary ID badge and lanyard shown below.   Please share this information with your building occupants, and please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Dear Building Coordinators,

As you may have heard by now, the union that represents our Custodians and Groundskeepers have announced that they intend to strike next Monday through Wednesday.   Custodial Services will prioritize the limited available resources to only services public spaces.  This includes public area trash removal, general assignment classrooms, restroom cleaning, sanitizing and restocking.  We will not have the resources to empty trash cans and recycle in offices or locked space, and we request that staff empty them into public area containers.  Additionally, we are postponing all non-emergency custodial Facility Service Requests scheduled during the work stoppage.

We are assigning alternate staff to unlock the buildings in the mornings.   For those of you who arrive early and have exterior building keys, it would be helpful if you would confirm that we did not miss any.   If you don't have keys, you can notify Trouble Call of any doors we missed and we will respond as soon as we can.

Groundskeeping services will be suspended during this time, with the exception of the trash removal from the many receptacles around the campus.
