2. Atmospheric and Geospace Sciences Postdoctoral Research Fellowships (AGS-PRF)
------------------------------------------------------------
From: Michael Wiltberger (mwiltber at nsf.gov)

The Division of Atmospheric and Geospace Sciences (AGS) awards Postdoctoral Research Fellowships (PRF) to highly qualified early career investigators to carry out an independent research program. The research plan of each Fellowship must address scientific questions within the scope of AGS disciplines. The program supports researchers for a period of up to 2 years with Fellowships that can be taken to the institution of their choice. The program is intended to recognize beginning investigators of significant potential and provide them with experience in research that will broaden perspectives, facilitate interdisciplinary interactions and help establish them in leadership positions within the Atmospheric and Geospace Sciences community. Fellowships are awards to individuals, not institutions, and are administered by the Fellows.

3. Announcement of New Journal RMPP (Reviews of Modern Plasma Physics)
------------------------------------------------------------
From: Mitsuru Kikuchi (RMPP Chairman) (aapps.dpp.ceo at gmail.com)

There is a new journal RMPP launched in 2017 and publishes review articles in all fields of plasma physics at no cost to the authors. The first Journal articles is "Shocks in collisionless plasmas". This article is complementary to shock review articles published previously in Reviews of Geophysics and Space physics and Reviews of Space Sciences. The article is written at the level for graduate students and young researchers and they would benefit from the articles.

4. Postdoctoral Positions at Southern University of Science and Technology, China
------------------------------------------------------------
From: Jian Yang, Kaijun Liu (yangj36 at sustech.edu.cn)

Multiple postdoctoral positions are available in the field of space (plasma) physics at Southern University of Science and Technology, Shenzhen, China with an expected starting date in the fall of 2019. The selected candidates will work with Dr. Kaijun Liu and/or Dr. Jian Yang in the Department of Earth and Space Sciences (http://ess.sustech.edu.cn/). The topics will include plasma wave excitation and the related particle scattering in Earth’s radiation belts, auroral dynamics, numerical simulations of Earth’s and planetary magnetospheres.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in space physics (or a related field) or soon to be completed. Experience in plasma simulations is highly desirable. The positions are for two years with the possibility of an extension based on performance and funding availability. Salary (typically between 300,000 and 350,000 RMB) and benefits will be commensurate with education and experience.

Interested candidates should send curriculum vitae, statement of research interests, along with a list of three references and contact information to Ms. Anka Chen at chenak at mail.sustech.edu.cn. Inquiries about the positions should be addressed to Dr. Kaijun Liu (liukj at sustech.edu.cn) or Dr. Jian Yang (yangj36 at sustech.edu.cn). Review of applications will begin on June. 15, 2019, and will continue until the positions are filled.

5. A PhD Student Position in the Space Physics Group at the Department of Physics, University of Helsinki, Finland
------------------------------------------------------------
From: Lucile Turc (lucile.turc at helsinki.fi)

The Space Physics Group of the University of Helsinki is a leading European space physics group specialised both in observations and modelling of space plasmas. For example, we develop the novel global hybrid-Vlasov simulation Vlasiator and have a strong focus on solar eruptions combining observations and models.

We are now opening a doctoral student position. The research of the PhD student will focus on the dynamics of the Earth's radiation belts. Prior knowledge of space plasma physics and numerical simulations is considered an advantage. Other useful skills include: Python, C/C++.

We offer a position in a dynamic and international research group, with a possibility to network and to develop as a researcher. The position is available immediately. Applications are open until 30 April 2019.

For specifics about the position, contact Professor Minna Palmroth (minna.palmroth ‘at’ helsinki.fi). Interested candidates should send their informal application, CV, and a maximum of three names to act as references to Hanna.Partio 'at' helsinki.fi, and cc: minna.palmroth 'at' helsinki.fi the above addresses, before 30 April 2019.
