JOB OPENING: Postdoctoral Research Assistant I at CSPAR/UAH

From: Qiang Hu (qiang.hu at uah.edu)

The Center for Space Plasma and Aeronomic Research (CSPAR) at The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) is seeking applications for an entry-level postdoctoral position, available immediately. The position requires essential knowledge and skills on MHD modeling of solar active region magnetic field configuration. Experience with high performance computing, distributed multi-CPU systems, and quantitative analysis of magnetic field topology is a must. Familiarity with modern multi-wavelength remote-sensing imaging observations of the Sun is a strong plus. The CSPAR at UAH, affiliated with the Department of Space Science (SPA), provides a diverse and vibrant environment for academic excellence and professional growth. SPA offers a unique academic program in space plasma physics, covering research topics ranging from solar physics to physical processes throughout the heliosphere and in the interstellar medium. The appointee will also benefit from close interaction with the solar physics group at the Marshall Space Flight Center, who shares the same office space. The postdoctoral researcher at CSPAR is also eligible to serve as Principal Investigator to play a leading role in competing for internal and external funding opportunities. The city of Huntsville, also known as the Rocket City, boasts a high quality of life and low cost of living. The appointment is initially for one year and is renewable for additional years.

To ensure full consideration, qualified applicants should apply on-line at https://uah.interviewexchange.com/jobofferdetails.jsp?JOBID=101172 for the position of Postdoctoral Research Assistant I (step 1)/RV4182. Any questions on the position should be sent directly to Dr. Qiang Hu, qh0001 at uah.edu. Applicants should send/upload a cover letter, long curriculum vita, a publication list, if applicable, and two references with names, addresses, phone numbers and e-mail addresses.
