New Common Data Format (CDF) Version 3.6.3 Has Been Released

From: Michael Liu and Robert Candey, Space Physics Data Facility (SPDF) at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (Robert.M.Candey at nasa.gov)

The Common Data Format (CDF) library <http://cdf.gsfc.nasa.gov/> has updated to version 3.6.3 to include the latest leap second and a few other improvements and bug fixes. Perl, IDL, Matlab, and Java interfaces, Matlab and IDL plugins, and SKTEditor <http://spdf.gsfc.nasa.gov/skteditor/> have also been updated. For further details and changes, see the CDF release notes <http://cdf.gsfc.nasa.gov/html/CDF_changesnote.html>. We strongly urge all CDF users to promptly upgrade their CDF software to support times after the 2016 December 31 leap second.

We encourage all to subscribe to the CDF Announcements email list to receive warnings of future leap seconds and other CDF issues <https://lists.nasa.gov/mailman/listinfo/gsfc-cdf-announcements>. As always, please report any problems, issues or questions to gsfc-cdf-support at lists.nasa.gov.

JOB OPENING: Post-doctoral Positions at the University of Colorado - LASP

From: Tom Woods & Frank Eparvier (eparvier at colorado.edu)

The Solar Influences Group at the Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics (LASP) at the University of Colorado at Boulder invites applications for postdoctoral research positions in the areas of solar physics and planetary atmospheric science. The successful candidates wil work on data from NASA satellite programs (including SORCE, MAVEN, SDO, and MinXSS) to study solar irradiance variability and its sources on the Sun, to study the influence of this variability on planetary atmospheres (including Earth and Mars), to support mission operations and data processing for those solar instruments. The candidates will have access to excellent engineering and data system facilities at LASP and for teaching opportunities in some of the university departments if desired. The initial appointment is for one year plus an additional year based on individual performance and funding, with option for promotion to research scientist position contingent upon performance and funding. We will begin considering applications on January 3, 2017, and we will accept applications until the positions are filled. For more information and instructions on how to apply, please visit: https://cu.taleo.net/careersection/2/jobdetail.ftl?job=07856.
