Kate Ramer of UCLA: Obituary Notice

It is with great sadness we inform you, quite belatedly, of the death of our dear student and colleague (at UCLA), Kate Ramer. On August 10, 2017, subsequent to a second lung transplant at Stanford University Medical Center and in the presence of family and friends, Kate lost her valiant battle to cystic fibrosis. We are heartbroken at losing her, but we will always remember her as a promising and upcoming scientist who, just this year, published a most valuable research paper on the source of periodicities in Saturn’s magnetosphere. Kate was fully engaged in her studies and scientific research until her last days. She also made time to enjoy activities with colleagues, family and friends.  She was a science fiction enthusiast and her colleagues appreciated her goofy impersonations of Star Wars and other film characters especially at Halloween or when she went off on her annual expedition to Comicon.  Kate was a cat lover and a kitten foster mom who fostered for the WLA shelter and promoted The Rescue Team’s fundraising efforts on her Facebook page.
