Fall Meeting 2021: Diversity & Inclusion Registration Waiver for scientists in need

The hybrid format for the 2021 Fall Meeting provides opportunities for participation by scientists who could normally not attend in person. We realize, however, that the cost of registration may still be a barrier for some scientists.

In order to increase participation, inclusivity, and diversity, the Space Physics and Aeronomy section will offer registration waivers for scientists who need financial support in order to be able to participate. The number of waivers will depend on the demand and the available funds. Waivers will only be provided for virtual, early-bird registrations (i.e. before Nov. 3). 

We will prioritize applications from
• First time attendees
• Students and Early Career
• Those that attend or teach at a Minority Serving Institutions
And others who consider themselves to be a member of a community that is under-represented in Space Physics and Aeronomy

Please note that free registrations are already available for some attendees including undergraduate students and scientists (at any career stage) from low and lower-middle income countries. Reduced rates are also available for some other groups. Rates are shown at https://www.agu.org/Fall%20Meeting/Pages/Register-Housing/Registration-Rates

Registration opens on August 23. Applications that are received too late to provide support may still be considered but any support would have to be in the form of a reimbursement instead of a waiver. (We do not know the exact deadline for waivers.)
