AGU Position Statements on Climate Change, Safeguarding Data, and Freely Communicating Science Open for Comment

AGU members have until 30 April to comment on revisions to three AGU position statements addressing climate change, science communication and data, respectively. Position statements are what enable AGU to provide scientific expertise on significant policy issues. Submit your comments to help shape the future of the Earth and space sciences. Note that all comments will be made public.

Magnetosphere Online Seminar Series

On Monday April 8 Jia Jia will be discussing “Impact of Energetic Particles on Earth's Neutral Atmosphere Composition: Insights of ozone changes” at 12 noon eastern. 

Harlan Spence will follow this on April 15 with a discussion of the the HelioSwarm Mission. 

The seminars will continue most Mondays at 12 noon easter. If you are interested in giving a seminar please contact us.

JOB OPENING: Research Engineer III / Instrument Scientist III

The High Altitude Observatory (HAO) at the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder Colorado has an opening for an Instrumentation Scientist III position. This position designs and develops scientific instruments to study the Sun and applies analytical tools to study basic physical processes. Serves as Principal Investigator of the Coronal and Solar Magnetism Observatory (COSMO) Large Coronagraph, playing a leading role in developing and realizing the large coronagraph instrument as part of the future COSMO facility. 

The job location is in Boulder, Colorado. This is a full-time regular position after Appointments Review Group (ARG) approval. Visa sponsorship and relocation assistance are available for the position. Applications will be received until May 13, 2024 (with the possibility of an extension).

JOB OPENING: Postdoctoral Position in Lunar Studies

The Swedish Institute of Space Physics (IRF) is a leading research institute in the field of planetary magnetospheres and solar wind interactions with a focus on particle measurements. The tasks include science data analysis from IRF’s particle instruments onboard lunar missions Chandrayaan-1 and Chang’e-4 and collaboration with our simulation group working on the exosphere dynamics and global moon–solar wind interaction models.
