D-Star... humm... I want to say that when I looked at D-Star several
years ago, the ICOM products with that system were rather pricey. In
particular, the ICOM dual-band HTs with D-Star were priced about as much as
a good mobile.
That said, I wouldn't mind taking another look at D-Star.
