Greetings,
Today's news brings word of two different attacks that have been recognized.

The first is a widespread ransomware attack that spreads by email attachments. While there is a possible tangential connection to the vulnerability I told you about a while ago that was patched by Microsoft in March, it is different in how it spreads. Best advice is, as always, be very suspicious of attachments in your email

If you want news on it here is a link to the NYT article. It is developing so more technical details should be coming soon
https://mobile.nytimes.com/2017/05/12/world/europe/uk-national-health-service-cyberattack.html

The second is more specific. It appears that an audio driver update for HP computers contains a keylogger. That is a small program that records everything you type so obviously it can capture your user name and passwords for accounts. If you meet the criteria you might want to have a look at the details in the article and see if the log file is being generated. Here is the info
http://www.infoworld.com/article/3196125/data-security/on-hp-computers-check-for-the-conexant-keylogger-called-mictray.html

Again, this one is fairly restricted so most of us don't need to worry about it, at least at the moment

Thanks and let us know if you have questions
Steve Salyards
